PRN founders awarded Angela Oakes Award at the International Communications Consultancy Organisation Awards

We're delighted to announce that our founders, Nicky & George, have been named as the inaugural recipients of the GWPR Angela Oakes Award at last night's International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) awards in London. This award, named after Angela Oakes, demonstrates a significant commitment to fostering positive change within our industry, a legacy forged through the co-founding of Global Women in PR (GWPR) alongside Sue Hardwick.

At the core of our success lies a remote business model that, when established in 2005, pioneered a new way of working. Guided by female leadership, our unique business prioritises flexibility across our network - which has now grown to over 1,300 associates around the world. Recognising that one size doesn’t fit all, we empower individuals to work in ways that suit their lifestyles.

Our flexibility isn't just a perk; it's a fundamental part of our DNA which enables us to create an inclusive and supportive work environment, as well as retaining valuable talent.

Nicky and George came to know Angela and Sue when they shared a seat on the Women in PR Committee, serving under fellow past Presidents Mary Whenman and Bibi Hilton, from 2017 - 2020. During their tenure they ran the WIPR / PRWeek mentoring scheme, working with John Harrington to help 45 women reach their potential with the help of 15 mentors.

We’re deeply touched by the recognition of our collective efforts. This award symbolises more than personal achievement; it represents our dedication to uplifting and fostering positive change for women in PR. It’s not just an acknowledgment of our past endeavours; it's a call to continue advocating for positive change. Inspired by Angela's transformative impact on our industry, we're committed to pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and creating an environment where people can thrive.

This award reinforces our pledge to uphold Angela's legacy and contribute to the ongoing positive evolution of the PR industry. Her profound impact is evident in the enduring mission of GWPR, which seeks to connect, champion, and support women working in leadership roles globally. While her presence will be deeply missed by friends and colleagues, Angela's vision lives on through the continued work of GWPR, inspiring a new generation of women in PR to reach their full potential and fostering a more balanced and inclusive professional landscape.
