Case study
Challenge
A food brand faced a legal challenge from a food industry association over how its products were named, which was taken to the European Court of Justice.
Solution
We worked cohesively with the communication, brand and marketing teams, internal lawyers and external counsel to create a strategic plan on how we would respond to different outcomes — a positive or negative ruling. We also engaged with food industry organisations and industry bodies to create a defence against the ruling. Our experts drafted and prepared messaging for the media and for use with strategic partners. The team provided real-time monitoring and advice as the story played out.
Results
All media coverage was balanced in its reporting and contained messaging and quotes from the food brand. Strategic partner feedback was that they felt well-informed as to the situation and what the ruling — positive or negative — might mean to them and their partnership with our client.
